THE ROLE 

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to work as part of a residential team based in Windermere. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, able to work on their own initiative and keen to develop their role.
 
The varied projects will range from small building contracts to larger residential developments, including new-build conversions and vary from social housing to upmarket individual homes.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to: 
  • Estimating for submission of tenders on small projects
  • Preparation of cost plans, working closely with the development team during scheme design
  • Value engineering
  • Management of sub-contract work packages from order placement to final account
  • Monitoring of costs during construction and carrying out cost/value reconciliation
  • Providing cost information for customer extras
  • Cost analysis of completed projects to provide data for future projects
  • In addition, as part of a team in a small office, you may occasionally be required to carry out other duties outside the normal role of QS/Estimator.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE / TRAINING 
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a main contractor’s QS on building projects
  • Experience of working on residential projects would be an advantage
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification
  • Experience of working within an established culture of Safety, Environmental and Quality Management procedures
  • Team-orientated with strong communication, numerical, IT and organisational skills
